The Deutsches Museum in Munich is one of the world’s largest museums of science and technology. It attracts about 1.5 million visitors every year to discover science with a unique collection of more than 100.000 objects: from the earliest computers and aircraft to the original gasoline-powered car, with numerous and one-of-a-kind, interactive demonstrations and guided tours. At present, 40 exhibitions are on display, covering approximately 45,000 square metres of floor space at four locations (Deutsches Museum, Verkehrszentrum, Flugwerft Schleißheim, Bonn). It is also home of the largest museum library in Germany and the leading archive specialising in the history of natural sciences and technology. In the workshops, unique dioramas and demonstrations are built and historical exhibits are restored. And finally, the Deutsches Museum’s research institute and educational programmes play a major role in making science and technology easy to understand and experience for everyone.
